Ram Nath Kovind , The New President of India 2017 was born on 1st October 1945. He served as Governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017(3) and was a former leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (NDA). He served as a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from 1994 to 2006 (Uttar Pradesh) and was a lawyer who practised in the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court for 16 years. Ram Nath Kovind was nominated nominated by Bharatiya Janata Party for presidential election against Meira Kumar.
At 65.65% of the total votes, Ram Nath Kovind won the 2017 Indian presidential election 2017 and became 14th New President of India . Mr. Kovind will assume office on 25 July 2017.
During his parliamentary tenure, Mr. Kovind helped in the construction of school buildings in Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand under MPLAD (Member of Parliament Local Area Development) Scheme emphasised on development of basic infrastructure for education in rural areas
He has served as Parliamentary Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes/Tribes, Parliamentary Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment, among others.
During October 2002, Ram Nath Kovind represented India in the United Nations in New York and addressed United Nations General Assembly
